Footage of First Confirmed PlayStation 5 Game Godfall Leaks Online

Much of what we see aligns with details found in the Godfall trailer released during The Game Awards in December, which bodes well for the credibility of the leak.

Combat footage of the first confirmed PlayStation 5 launch title, the upcoming action-RPG looter-shooter Godfall, has leaked online. The video surfaced on the PS4 subreddit, and lasting all of six seconds ostensibly offers our first look at Godfall gameplay.

Godfall In Action

It’s a lot of hacking and slashing with particle effects and a hefty dose of motion burring thrown in. The player-controlled character plows through knight-like enemies and a smaller crawling creature in different locales using a variety of attack moves.

Much of what we see aligns with details found in the Godfall trailer released during The Game Awards in December, which bodes well for the credibility of the leak.  The setting and art style, in particular, line up with the announcement trailer.

The video oozes with eye candy, but there isn’t anything that makes Godfall all that distinguishable from the most graphically impressive current-generation titles. This may be symptomatic of the state of development rather than what we can expect from the final product.

Footage From March 2019 ‘Internal’ Trailer

According to the leaker, YeaQuarterDongIng, the footage comes from a Godfall trailer that circulated ‘internally’ in March 2019. The leaker fails to specify ‘internally.’ But, it’s safe to assume this means within Godfall developer Counterplay Games and publisher Gearbox Publishing.

March 2019 suggests we could be looking at footage captured either on PC or PlayStation 5, given that dev kits started reaching third-party developers in early 2018. In other words, we can’t discount the video being our first look at the PlayStation 5 in action.

As it stands, Godfall is slated for release in late 2020 to coincide with the release of Sony’s upcoming PS5. Players will be asked to jump into a high fantasy world as a member of the Knight’s Order. Through combat, players secure increasingly powerful loot in a fashion reminiscent of the Borderlands franchise.
