Bithumb, South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has finally listed Goatseus Maximus (GOAT), a Solana-based AI meme coin, and trading pairs ranging from South Korean won to Bithumb coin (BH) on its exchange today.
GOAT debuted on the Korean won market on the exchange’s Bithumb, with support for trading announced on December 17. Trading began at 04: Deposits and withdrawals will be available two hours after the announcement, at 00 UTC. According to its notification to customers, Bithumb told them it would restrict buying and selling orders in the first five minutes of trading there.
GOAT follows its debut on the leading exchange OKX on December 12 (with a 30 percent uptick in value) and a listing on Bithumb. However, the Bithumb listing didn’t have the same effect.
Bithumb Listing Sparks Mixed Reactions For GOAT Price
The token’s price rose slightly by 4% just minutes following the announcement but dropped by 1.16% in the hours after that. Expectations of a significant price bump when a new exchange listing for the gateway token GOAT were high over the last 24 hours, but it declined slightly by 0.9% over the same period.
Although Bithumb’s performance was muted, GOAT remains one of the market’s most volatile AI meme coins. The token has added 22% over the last week, although it has dropped nearly 42% in the past month.
GOAT was recently displaced from the No. 2 spot as the second-largest AI meme coin by FARTCOIN after its market cap bottomed to $700M. Over the past day, the token has clawed back some ground, with today’s market cap sitting at $709 million and $452 million in 24-hour trading volume.
However, at the time of writing, GOAT trades for $0.71, or above Bithumb’s base price of 976 won (approximately $0.67).
The original viral meme that spawned Goatseus maximus was called ‘Goatse,’ which gained further oomph from the promotion by an AI chatbot named Truth Terminal. After release, the token will be launched on the pump.fun platform and quickly amassed an impressive market cap.
GOAT’s listing on Bithumb is another big step forward for GOAT inclusion in the top exchanges. But in its wake, its recent price activity prompts questions about investor sentiment for and about meme coins among the dizzying competition.
The fate of AMOR will be watched as the token continues to navigate market volatility, showing investors and analysts how well it can maintain momentum.
