WazirX has earned approval from a Singapore court to repay funds that remained intact after the July 2024 hacking incident. The hack resulted in a seizure of $235 million after which WazirX froze all user funds that remained.
Zettai, the parent company of WazirX, needed legal approval from the Singaporean local court before WazirX could start repaying the funds that were not stolen. WazirX Will Hold Voting Process to Decide Fund Distribution
While the court has given its approval, the users cannot yet withdraw their funds right away. The repayment plan hinges on a crucial condition; the process will only move forward if most users vote in support of the plan. Specifically, the platform must receive approval from over half of the 4.2 million victims to move forward with the repayment plan.
The Singaporean court requires the voting process to begin in no more than three months after the recent ruling.
