Tether To Launch QVAC, a Local-First AI Agent Platform for Decentralized Development

Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, is set to launch a new AI agents development platform. Namely QVAC (QuantumVerse Automatic Computer), the platform will facilitate the creation of AI agents that will operate locally on the user devices. The new platform will also do away with cloud connectivity providing an alternative to centralized AI infrastructure.

QVAC aligns perfectly with Tether’s effort to keep AI tools free of corporate control. Furthermore, the platform will empower digital age developers. It will allow developers to create scalable AI applications, provide user privacy, avoid dependence on remote servers, and facilitate offline functionality. In particular, QVAC is expected to execute AI inference directly on smartphones, laptops, embedded systems and even brain-computer interfaces.

QVAC Platform to Support Autonomous, Local-First AI Agents

As per the official announcement made earlier on May 14 via Tether News, QVAC will be used to build AI applications from small and composable parts. This allows the creation of agents that are flexible and capable of independently running on local devices. Simply, these agents will run without any reliance on centralized APIs or cloud infrastructure.

Additionally, the QVAC platform will have peer-to-peer communication as a significant element of its architecture. Through this, devices will be directly connected so that agents can cooperate and exchange data locally. This eliminates central servers and reduces vulnerability to data breaches or snooping.

Tether’s upcoming development platform for infinite and ubiquitous intelligence is thus championing for true decentralization. Paolo Ardoino, the CEO of Tether, believes that AI should foster societal growth and humanity through cutting out control by corporations that own servers and APIs.

If you need an API key to use your AI, it isn’t truly yours. QVAC is built to change this dynamic, making AI local-first, private, and independent, putting users back in charge of their data, their computation, and their autonomy,” Ardoino said – as per the official announcement.

QVAC to Launch Initial Apps Focused on Translation and Health

Tether will begin its QVAC-based AI apps venture by launching two applications. The first, QVAC/Translate, is going to provide fast document, text and speech translation – fully offline. The app will allow users to transcribe and translate the media on their devices without uploading sensitive files to the cloud.

The second one, QVAC/Health will offer a private wellness tracker. It will enable users to track personal health data in a secure manner; all data will be saved locally. Since no data will be sent to external servers, the app will reduce the risk of exposing sensitive medical data.

By launching the two apps, Tether will showcase QVAC’s privacy-first capabilities and user independence. Tether will also be rolling out a Software Development Kit (SDK) in the next few months. This means that developers across the world will be able to create and deploy their own QVAC-based tools in the near future.

QVAC’s AI Agents to Feature Native Payments Using BTC and USDT

QVAC will have an inbuilt provision for Tether’s WDK system to facilitate payments. This will allow AI agents to transact pseudonymously on a blockchain basis with Bitcoin and Tether (USDT). It will also ensure that AI systems are self-sustaining and can exist in a peer-to-peer economic system.

Developers will also be able to develop agents that are capable of paying for services, manage subscriptions, and interact with other smart devices with the help of crypto. This capability may help drive decentralized commerce, automation, and machine-to-machine financial activity. The establishment of crypto payments is consistent with Tether’s long history of involvement in the digital currency infrastructure.

As per Tether’s CEO, the full rollout of QVAC is anticipated to happen in Quarter Three (Q3) of 2025. The platform is still at the development stage, and future updates as well as technical data will follow in Q2. The company’s continued investment in AI could transform the paradigm of development, operation, and monetization of decentralized intelligent systems.
