FIFA, the global football federation, has teamed up with Avalanche to launch its own blockchain. According to reports, the collaboration will focus on boosting blockchain scalability and encourage Web3 adoption across the sports industry.
Previously, FIFA used the Algorand blockchain, but now it is exploring other options for hosting its blockchain network. By choosing Avalanche, the global sports organization highlights its focus on data efficiency, faster transactions, and scalable infrastructure. The partnership is in support of FIFA’s mission to provide an inclusive digital ecosystem for football fans.
Avalanche’s Technical Strengths to Power FIFA Blockchain
As per the Avalanche documentation, the network supports up to 6,500 transactions per second. Thanks to this speed, FIFA will be able to provide timely services to millions of football fans.
John Nahas, the Chief Business Officer at Ava Labs, believes that the partnership with FIFA highlights its potential in the blockchain sector. “FIFA’s decision to launch its L1 on Avalanche is a testament to our technology’s ability to support global-scale applications with speed, flexibility, and security,” he stated. With finality under two seconds and fees below $0.01, Avalanche provides both speed and affordability.
Avalanche’s EVM compatibility also makes migrating dApps from Ethereum straightforward. This way, the football federation will not need to reconstruct its existing web3 applications. As confirmed by Avalanche, FIFA’s new chain will aid the use of NFTs, tickets, online collectibles, and fan interactions.
First up: @FIFACollect is migrating to Avalanche.
With sub-second finality and low fees, fans everywhere will get faster, smoother access to official digital collectibles, backed by real infrastructure.

FIFA Blockchain Adoption Grows Beyond Algorand
FIFA launched its journey into Web3 by opening an NFT marketplace on Algorand in 2022. But with Avalanche now as the focus, this indicates a move toward using different chains that perform well and adapt easily.
The team’s first project in partnership with Algorand revolved around collectibles. In the future, Avalanche will facilitate the development of additional applications, including instant apps and activities for community members on the blockchain. FIFA is following the trend of offering interactive experiences for sports fans online.
Before, organizations had to stick with a single blockchain design, but Avalanche’s Subnet allows the football federation to tailor their blockchain however they want. This design includes elements that address the major problems of regulatory control and safeguarding private data for global organizations.
AVAX Pumps 9% Following the Partnership with FIFA
Demand for Avalanche blockchain’s token (AVAX) has surged after its new partnership with FIFA. The increased demand has pumped the price of AVAX by 9.34% on the day, according to data by CoinMarketCap. As at press time the coin is trading at $24.93.

Additionally, the trading volume of Avalanche has risen over the last 24 hours. AVAX has recorded $847.11 million in trading volume over the same period. This marks a 126.02% surge on the day.
Although FIFA has not confirmed specific upcoming launches, reports suggest expanded blockchain activity. FIFA’s integrations, especially the FIFA Collect and other platforms could occur by Q3 2025.
Avalanche Labs also sees the partnership with FIFA as part of a wider effort to draw in government and enterprise blockchain projects. By venturing into Web3, the football federation will likely to make other sports entities consider similar steps.
