A bold move by Pi Network Ventures has ignited debate across the crypto and AI sectors. The platform has entered the robotics space by investing in OpenMiind’s $20 million funding round. The startup aims to build humanoid robots and a universal AI operating system. This investment signals a growing intersection between blockchain technology and artificial intelligence.
Pi Network Joins OpenMiind’s $20M Fundraising Round
Pi Network Ventures has been involved in a 20 million dollar capital with OpenMind, an artificial intelligence robotics company. OpenMind is working on OM1, a universal operating system for intelligent machines.
The round also included other major investors such as Pantera Capital, Coinbase Ventures, Ribbit Capital, and Sequoia China. According to OpenMiind, OM1 is designed to function across various robot platforms, similar to how Android supports smartphones.

In addition to OM1, OpenMiind is building FABRIC—a protocol that enables machines to verify identity and work together securely in real-time. These tools are expected to support applications in sectors like logistics, elder care, smart manufacturing, and autonomous transport.
Why Pi Network Is Investing in AI Robotics
The funding is part of Pi Network’s larger $100 million venture fund. That fund is aimed at financing realistic applications of the Pi ecosystem.
Pi Network is investing in OpenMiind so that it can have a larger presence in the emerging areas of technology. The purpose seems to be the enhancement of the usefulness of the Pi token in intelligent service systems supported by AI.
The alliance can also facilitate more international developments across the globe involving Pi Network and deep-tech startups. According to Pi Network, these moves will support the ecosystem’s long-term utility, adoption, and real-world relevance.
However, some community members have expressed concern over the direction of the fund. A few Pi users stated that core infrastructure should take priority over external projects.
Security Upgrades and Community Response
Shortly after the OpenMiind announcement, Pi Network launched a new wallet security upgrade. A Passkey option has been introduced to provide one-tap secure authentication for users.
The update comes after incidents involving the wallet security have been reported. According to the core team, it is an extension of the ongoing move to strengthen user security of the Pi ecosystem.

The reaction of communities to the community investment has not been homogeneous. Some consider it a proactive step, whereas others fear that the emphasis on the outside activities is going to divert attention from the development of the Pi mainnet.
