Gemini Expands USD Payment Rails for European Institutions

Gemini Crypto Exchange started offering USD payment services to institutional clients in the UK to expand its platform across Europe. The organization works with Bank Frick in Liechtenstein to enhance its platform features.

The expanded network with banking services will start serving EU countries later this month to help Gemini grow its European operations.

Bank Frick opened its doors in 1998 as a financial institution providing fund management, blockchain banking, and fund administration services. When clients use Bank Frick’s 23/7 payment service xPULSE they can make deposits to Gemini at any time.

Gemini Offers Fee-Free USD Transactions for UK Clients

Gemini’s new payment systems will first serve institutional Swiss customers and will expand next to Gibraltar, Jersey, Guernsey, and the Isle of Man. Through this platform institutions in defined areas now handle bitcoin transactions directly in USD plus deposit and withdraw USD money while accessing 80 USD trading markets.

Gemini will let UK institutional clients pay and withdraw fees-free because of its new USD rail integration as per their recent media update.Gemini tells the European market that USD payments will reach all institutional customers throughout the EU and EEA soon.

Since the Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation takes effect in December 2024, Gemini seeks to strengthen its market presence in Europe.

MiCA represents a comprehensive EU-wide regulatory system that European Parliament introduced in April 2023 for cryptocurrency oversight. Gemini began offering its services in Lithuania because Malta became the initial country to accept MiCA and Gemini obtained necessary regulatory clearances in the area.

Gemini started its French business operations in November 2024 after securing its license to run virtual asset services 11 months previously. The European division started fully operating in January 2025 because Gemini made multiple senior management appointments.

Gemini Secures Early Approval for EU Investment License

Gemini gained early operational approval from Malta during February to apply an Investment Firm license across Europe. Upon final approval Gemini will legally serve advanced traders and institutional clients with futures and options services throughout EU and EEA nations.

Gemini launched a credit card referral program during this period to give $50 cryptocurrency rewards both to persons who refer customers and to people they recommend. The program aligns with Gemini’s routine attempts to acquire new users and build out its client base.

Cameron Winklevoss confirmed that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission concluded a two-year probe of Gemini without issuing any fines against the company. Following similar decisions with other crypto firms the SEC ended its legal actions against Coinbase OpenSea Robinhood and UniSwap.

According to Winklevoss the agency’s relentless crypto crackdown has harmed both his company and America. The exchange moves forward in Europe and deals with regulations while working to bring crypto services to institutions and design better financial tools.
